Interested in becoming a member of the IPS?
We would be delighted to welcome you as a Member – why not try out the IPS first by attending a few of our Shows through our Daily Membership Scheme? You may compete at up to three shows before having to decide whether or not to become a full member. Should you decide to join, any vouched daily membership subscriptions (from the same season) will be deducted from your annual subscription (Membership Application Form below). A complete list of events is available on this website under the “Shows” section.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Society.
The Council of the IPS
To proceed with Membership of the Irish Pony Society :
- Completed Membership Application Form (Membership_Application 2020). (Must be at least one adult member, preferably the owner of the pony). Please ensure this form is printed in “landscape” format and completed in full. Show entries will be accepted from paid-up members only. Birth certificate for first-time junior member(s) must be submitted with application. To register a pony with the IPS, please submit completed pony registration form along with existing passport (PONY REGISTRATION FORM).
- Relevant payment.
- By law, all ponies must be microchipped.
Please note that, although we would request that you renew your membership by beginning of January, subscriptions will be accepted after this time. This request has been made in order to avoid a backlog in the issuing of membership and showing cards and also to ensure that all those competing at early events are covered by insurance. Members attending early IPS events, including training held under IPS insurance, and those who have not renewed their subscription by the date of the event, must pay daily membership. Any further queries on this matter, please contact the office.
Showing Cards: Members should record their pony’s winnings/placings on the showing card, which should be returned to the IPS office at the end of the show season (deadline date on front of showing card) for verification against the computerised show results. One card will be issued per pony.)
A pony must have a showing card:
1. To be in the running for points awards at the end of the year;
2. As proof of measurement.
In order to get a showing card, a pony must have a current year or final measurement attained at a recognised IPS or SJAI measuring centre. Dates and venues may be obtained from the IPS website (Members Area) or from SJAI on 045-842300.
