Incomming chairman Jim Kelly said at the EGM on 11th May 2011, that Kerry had a very proud sporting tradition and the Kerry Area branch of the Irish Pony Society had a role to play in maintaining this.
He stated that a value for money, quality education & training programme of events had been organised in liaison with Teagasc and other bodies annually by the branch for the horse and pony enthusiasts and that people should avail of it and communicate their views to the members of the committee.
The spring training was specially tailored to the abilities of each group and had proven invaluable in the better development of the riding skills and knowledge of the course participants of all levels, from beginner to advanced. It was also providing a solid foundation for the participants to go on to perform safely and with distinction in their chosen speciality areas whether that be competing in the various ridden and showing classes at the IPS affilliated outdoor shows, Hunting, Eventing, Show Jumping, Dressage, Racing Jockey, or simply breeding quality offspring.
The chairman emphasised that new members were welcome and stated that the Kerry IPS wanted to work with everybody involved in the industry in Kerry to improve it for those who reside in Kerry and the neighbouring areas of Limerick and Cork, all of whose shows were now enjoying more popularity than ever.
